Bring on 2008!

2007 is officially over! What a whirlwind of a year it was! Thinking back on the last year, I can't help but be absolutely amazed at how far we have come. We bought our first home together, added a wonderful puppy to our lives, met lots of new people and made lots of new friends!

Unfortunately we weren't able to spend New Year's Eve together because I had to work. It was a busy night for me (lots of accidents, lots of drunks, lots of calls, period!). Mark headed over to Mike and Meghan's house for a celebration with the neighbors. I think he was more excited to finally meet other Aggie fans who ganged up on Mike and Meghan (both Texas fans) for once, than he was about it being New Year's Eve! But, he had to work the next morning, so no long night of partying for him.

2007 was filled with both joys and sorrows. Mark was accepted into HFD's fire academy only to break his ankle weeks from graduation. But he healed up and that injury ended up opening other doors to his job now. He's very happy with his position as a paramedic and is now looking into going back to school for Nursing! We welcomed a new "Nephew" (Frank Ryan) into the Gomez family and a new Goddaughter (Lyla Marie) into the Nelson family in Italy, just in time for Christmas. We are both so looking forward to meeting her soon! We gained weight and lost weight, gained debt and paid debt; but in the end, 2007 was a good year. I can only hope that 2008 is as fruitful.

We had to run to Lowe's the other day to buy some new fence posts, because the dogs next door have decided that Allie is more interesting than they had previously thought. Allie certainly didn't help to deter them by aiding in the excavation. On our way there, we decided to state our New Year's Resolutions. In years past, we never really put much thought into it, but this year we decided to really stick with it. Mark said he will give up dipping, and I'm going to reduce my soda intake in hopes of shedding a few extra pounds. Hopefully these goals are not too ambitious to stick to. We're both going back to the gym, and with a little sweat (and probably a lot of complaining on my part hahah) we'll be back to our academy selves in no time (yeah, I'll let you know how that goes). :)
